This is the Southern Rights, Palmetto Guards Flag. During the Civil War, Kansas formed but it had to have a constitution where it would either allow or disallow slavery. People from the North and South went there. The Southerners carried a flag with them that had Southern Rights on it, Southern Rights, Palmetto Guards Flag. They called themselves the Palmetto Guard after a tree that grew in a state they were from.
