The Liberia Flag was adopted on August 27th, 1847. The Liberia Flag closely mimics the U.S.A. Flag. Freed slaves from the U.S. went to the country of Liberia to seek freedom and opportunity. The white star shows the shining light of the republic in a dark continent which is represent by the blue square. The eleven stripes of the the Liberia Flag represents the eleven signatures on the Liberian Declaration of Independence.
