What is the Disability Pride Flag?

The original Disability Pride flag was created in 2019 by Ann Magill, a disabled woman, and featured a zig-zag or lightning bolt design but after receiving input from people with visually triggering disabilities on Tumblr, the flag was changed in 2021 to have muted colors and straight diagonal stripes.

The individual colors represent broad categories of disabilities:

• Blue: mental illness disabilities
• Yellow: neurodiversity 
• White: invisible and/or undiagnosed disability 
• Red: physical disability 
• Green: sensory disability 
• That the flag uses all the standard flag colors (instead of just two or three): Represents a transnational, global, community — united by spirit, rather than a shared government or geographical region (Like the official Olympic flag, which also uses all six standard colors).

Custom Made of durable and long-lasting nylon fabric and solid brass grommets, this flag lasts much longer than our Standard flag. You won’t find nylon flags with higher tensile and tear strength. It has excellent strength retention under UV exposure, and high resistance to UV fading. The colors are deep, bright, and last over time due to the aniline dye process. They have better wash-fastness and light-fastness than nylons of similar fabric construction. One inch double edge fold around flag, with four rows of stitching on the fly edge. There reinforced stitching at the top and bottom of the fly edge of the flag.
