Alabama Flag. In 1782 Ireland gained rights for the Irish parliament to exclusively legislate for the nation. An order of chivalry was created. In 1783 the Order of St Patrick was created. Knights of this order wear a diagonal red cross (saltire) displayed on a white background.

The Saint Patrick’s Saltire represents Northern Ireland indirectly as Ireland in the Union Flag. It is sometimes flown during Saint Patrick’s Day parades in Northern Ireland,^[12] and is used to represent Northern Ireland during some royal events.^[13]
