The Maryland Flag was adopted on March 9th, 1904. The Maryland Flag derives from the arms of two English families known as Calvert and Crossland. Sir George Calvert’s sons founded Maryland. They created the arms of Maryland by joining the arms of their father and the Crossland arms which belonged to their grandmother.
